years in weaving and production.
N. Murugesan began his textile career in 1993, running domestic home-textile businesses: New Janatha Handlooms (1993–1998) and Tulsi A Tex (1998–2005). He worked with M. Rajeshwari. In those early years, he personally managed weaving, dyeing, and quality control: testing batches, training operators, and fixing delays himself. In 2005, he co-founded Merit Creaters with Rajeshwari and designed the operational systems to scale to 40+ looms, 100 machines, and 100 workers, implementing quality gates at each production step and installing the in-house testing lab.
With years of direct production experience, Murugesan is Chairman, overseeing production strategy and continuous improvement. His operational focus: every process step has a gate, every batch is tested, every defect is reworked same-day. This eliminates inter-vendor delays common in fragmented supply chains.

Weaving & Fabric Production
Master weaver with hands-on expertise in fabric construction, loom operation, and quality control. Manages 40+ weaving looms and sets the technical standards for fabric weight, weave pattern, and durability.
Production Planning & Scheduling
Designs and maintains the operational workflows that enable Merit Creaters to deliver samples in 5-7 days and bulk orders in 30-45 days. Manages machine allocation, workforce scheduling, and inventory management across 100+ sewing machines.
Quality Assurance
Implemented the in-house testing lab and quality gates that verify color fastness, shrinkage, and tensile strength at each production stage. Ensures zero defects reach customers.
Team Building & Operations
Built and trained a 100-person workforce of skilled operators, supervisors, and specialists. Maintains competitive wages, workplace safety, and the operational discipline that keeps production on schedule.
Operational Scaling & Optimization
Led the company's growth from a family operation to a 25,000 sq ft manufacturing facility with 100 machines. Continuously optimizes workflows to reduce lead times and improve margins without compromising quality.

Building operational excellence from the ground up
Murugesan's career tracks Merit Creaters' growth from a family-run handloom business to a 100-machine facility. In the earliest years (1993–1998), while running New Janatha Handlooms with Rajeshwari, he was a hands-on operator: running weaving looms, managing dye batches, and personally overseeing stitching quality. This intimate knowledge of every production step proved invaluable as the business scaled.
The next phase (1998–2005) continued under Tulsi A Tex, the domestic venture that preceded Merit Creaters. Murugesan refined the production systems and quality discipline that would later scale to a full export operation.
In 2005, Murugesan co-founded Merit Creaters with Rajeshwari, evolving the business into large-scale export job work. As Merit Creaters began taking job work for large exporters, Murugesan designed and implemented the systems needed to manage 100+ machines and workers while maintaining the same rigor he had applied to small batches. He built the testing lab, documented quality procedures, and trained supervisors who could enforce standards across multiple production lines. Today, his focus is on continuous improvement and long-term sustainability.
