Your Questions About Merit Creaters

Common questions about MOQ, lead times, custom options, quality control, certifications, and sourcing from our Karur facility.

What is your minimum order quantity (MOQ)?

Our MOQ varies by product type, but we're committed to flexibility for new partners. Typically:

  • Kitchen & Table Linen: 100-500 units per SKU
  • Bed Linen: 200-500 units
  • Baby Products: 200-300 units
  • Bags: 200-500 units

For custom designs or private label orders, we can discuss smaller quantities on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to discuss your specific needs.

What are your typical lead times for bulk orders?

Standard lead times from order confirmation to shipment are:

  • Ready-available market fabric: 30-45 days
  • Custom orders (colors, prints, embroidery): 45-60 days
  • Large custom orders (5,000+ units): 60-90 days

These timelines allow for quality control at each step of our in-house production process. Rush orders may be accommodated for an expedited fee. Contact us for availability.

Can you do custom dyeing, printing, or embroidery?

Yes! We dye, screen-print, digitally print, and embroider in-house:

  • Custom Dyeing: Match specific Pantone colors; access to 100+ color library
  • Screen Printing: 1-4 color designs on bags, towels, linens
  • Digital Printing: Full-color photographic prints (minimum 200 units)
  • Embroidery: Logos and text on towels, bags, and linen (add 10-15 days to lead time)

All available at MOQ 200 units. Submit your design and we'll provide a sample and quote.

What certifications do you hold?

We are working toward industry-leading certifications to meet global buyer standards:

  • SEDEX Audit: In process, expected completion Q4 2026. SEDEX (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange) verifies our labor practices, environmental management, health & safety compliance, and supply chain transparency. This is the global standard required by major retailers (Walmart, Target, Marks & Spencer) and importers to ensure ethical manufacturing.

We do not currently hold GOTS (organic), Fair Trade, or other product certifications. Our focus is on quality control and responsible manufacturing practices. See our Process page for details on our in-house quality assurance.

For a detailed explanation of SEDEX audits and their importance, read our Understanding SEDEX article.

How is pricing structured, and what are your payment terms?

Pricing is based on product, volume, and customization options. We offer:

  • Volume discounts: Available for orders 1,000+ units
  • Payment terms: 50% advance, 50% upon shipment (standard for custom orders)
  • Payment methods: Bank transfer (preferred), wire transfer, L/C for large orders

Request a formal quote by contacting us with your specifications. We'll provide detailed pricing within 24-48 hours.

Can I order samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes. Request samples for quality evaluation:

  • Standard samples: 2-3 pieces per product, shipped within 5-7 days
  • Custom samples: With your design/color, quoted separately (usually ₹1,500-3,000 per SKU)
  • Sample cost: Refunded with first bulk order of 200+ units

Contact us at [email protected] with your product interest and sample needs.

What quality controls do you have in place?

We check materials, then stitching, prints, and finished goods. Fail one, the batch doesn't ship:

  • Raw Material: Weave, weight, shrinkage tested
  • Process: Color fastness, stitching, print quality checked at each step
  • Final: 100% visual + defect testing before packing
  • Lab: In-house durability, fade, and shrink control

See our Infrastructure page for details on our 25,000 sq ft facility and 100 sewing machines.

What's the difference between bulk orders and private label manufacturing?

Bulk Orders: You purchase our existing product lines in your choice of colors/prints. Quick lead times, lower MOQs, and lower cost.

Private Label / White Label: We manufacture products under your brand name and specifications. Includes custom tags, packaging, and branding. Higher MOQs (typically 500-1,000 units), longer lead times (60-90 days), but full brand ownership.

Both options available. We'll advise on which fits your business model during the quotation process.

On what terms do you export internationally?

We export internationally only. All production is made to order for international buyers to 20+ countries. Export terms:

  • Shipping Options: FCL (Full Container Load) and LCL (Less Than Container Load) available
  • Incoterms: FOB, CIF, DDP available depending on buyer preference
  • Documentation: Commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin provided
  • Lead Times: 15-30 days additional for international freight

No GST or export duties on goods. All export documentation handled in-house. Contact us for shipping rates and timelines to your country.

What is the embroidery turnaround time?

Embroidery adds production time to standard orders:

  • Simple embroidery (1-color logo): +10-15 days
  • Multi-color embroidery: +15-20 days
  • Custom monogram on each piece: +5-10 days per 500 units

All embroidery is digitized in-house and executed with precision. Request a quote and we'll confirm exact turnaround for your design.

What makes Merit Creaters different from other textile manufacturers?

Our competitive advantage is vertical integration and flexibility:

  • In-house everything: Design, weaving, dyeing, printing, stitching, embroidery. No outsourcing.
  • Speed: 30-45 day turnaround vs. 60-90 days at competitors
  • Flexibility: Custom orders welcome at modest MOQs; we adapt to your needs
  • Quality: Rigorous testing at every step; our lab ensures durability and colorfastness
  • Direct relationship: No middlemen. You work directly with our manufacturing team.

Visit our Process and Our Story pages to learn more about our capabilities.

How do you assure quality, given there's no return or refund policy?

Every shipment is checked at each production stage — raw materials tested, stitching inspected, final goods verified. We also use third-party inspectors (Intertek, SGS, Bureau Veritas) when needed.

Because defects get caught before shipment, buyers almost never see them. That's why we don't have a return or refund policy.

How do I place an order or request a quote?

Getting started is easy:

We'll respond within 24 hours with a detailed quote and can arrange a call to discuss options.

How does your facility capacity compare to other Karur suppliers?

Facility size: 25,000 sq ft (mid-tier for Karur). Equipment: 100 sewing machines, 40+ weaving looms, dye house with 8-10 vats, screen + digital printing, in-house embroidery digitization. Workforce: 100 full-time skilled professionals. This matches competitors like RK Exports and Akshar Home Textiles. Differentiation is not size; it's integration. Most competitors are similar scale but fragment production (weaver, dyer, printer, stitcher as separate entities). We own everything under one roof. No vendor coordination delays. No quality finger-pointing between vendors.

Why should I choose Merit Creaters over competitors?

Speed: 30-45 day turnaround because production is vertically integrated (no inter-vendor delays). Competitors quote 60-90 days because they coordinate across multiple vendors.

Flexibility: MOQ 200 units per SKU (competitors require 1,000-2,000 because they outsource setup costs). We absorb the cost.

Direct relationship: You work with us, not an agent. Your contact owns the relationship end-to-end. No middleman markup. Faster problem resolution.

Quality: In-house testing lab (color fastness, shrinkage, tensile strength on every batch). Quality gates at each step. No surprises at shipment.

Customization: Dyeing, printing, embroidery all in-house. Design revisions same-day (no vendor delays). We digitize embroidery in-house, so no per-revision charges.

What is your actual production cost per unit, and how do I compare?

Pricing depends on: product type (kitchen towel vs table cloth vs baby blanket), fabric weight, material (100% cotton vs blends), customization (plain color vs custom dyeing vs print vs embroidery), volume (200 units vs 5,000+).

Example: basic kitchen towel (400 GSM cotton, no customization, 1,000 units) ranges ₹150-200 per unit wholesale. Custom-dyed kitchen towels add ₹30-50. Embroidered towels add ₹50-100 depending on complexity.

Cost structure: raw material (cotton prices fluctuate quarterly), labor (100 skilled staff), overhead (facility, equipment, utilities). We don't use agents, so no middleman markup. Direct pricing.

To compare: Get quotes from 2-3 Karur suppliers with identical specifications (fabric type, weight, customization, volume) and similar lead times (30-45 day target). Price difference usually reflects volume discounts, not quality.

Can you guarantee lead times, or do I risk delays?

Guaranteed lead time: 30-45 days for standard products (in-stock colors, no custom customization), 45-60 days for custom colors/prints, 60-90 days for large orders (5,000+ units) with extensive customization. Written into quotation and honored in production scheduling.

Why we can guarantee: Vertically integrated production means no external vendor delays. We don't batch multiple clients' orders into shared production runs. Your order gets dedicated loom/dye vat/embroidery machine time. Production happens on your timeline.

Backup plans: If delays occur (rare), we use air freight or expedited ocean to meet your deadline (cost passed to you). Quality never compromised for speed. If a batch fails testing, we rework it. We never ship defective goods.

What happens if my order arrives with defects?

We don't have a formal returns/refunds policy because defects leaving our facility is extremely rare. Every batch passes: raw material inspection, in-process QC (color fastness, stitching, prints), final 100% visual inspection. Batches that fail any gate don't move forward—we rework them.

If defects somehow reach you (unprecedented in 20+ years): Contact us with photos/details. We investigate root cause (material, production, or shipping damage) and replace the batch at our cost. Shipping costs (return + replacement) split or covered entirely depending on circumstances.

Protection: We recommend third-party inspection (Intertek, SGS, Bureau Veritas) for orders over 10,000 units. Independent inspectors certify quality before shipment. Small cost; eliminates dispute risk.

How quickly can I scale an order if sales exceed forecast?

Scaling depends on product and capacity availability. For best-selling SKUs: we maintain some in-stock inventory, so +20-30% orders can often ship within 10-15 days. For fully custom SKUs (custom colors, prints, embroidery): scaling requires additional production runs, adding 30-45 days.

Contact us immediately if sales outpace forecast. We'll check: available loom time, dye vat capacity, embroidery queue, stitching line availability. If capacity exists, we can accommodate. If not, we'll provide honest timeline (don't over-commit and disappoint).

Repeat relationship benefit: established clients get priority scheduling and access to our current inventory buffers. New clients typically wait standard lead time.
